Just how much is 1 billion? PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 10 February 2010 08:19

The next time you hear a politician use the
Word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about
Whether you want the 'politicians' spending
YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
But one advertising agency did a good job of
Putting that figure into some perspective in
One of it's releases.

  • A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
  • A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
  • A billion hours ago our ancestors were Living in the Stone Age.
  • A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

Stop The Gouge : The line of Fire PDF Print E-mail

The line of Fire.
Over the years, trucking has dramatically changed. I have been a part of it. So my credentials are known, I was out there during deregulation in the 80's. I participated in, I drove through and, I drove around strikes. Even when it would of made my life better in the long run to sit or join in. Like everyone out here I needed to keep moving. Now, where are any of us moving too? We run and run for less and seemingly less. We get a surcharge mandate and it worked, then it's repealed. I feel I bailed at times on my fellow Truckers, it was my CHOICE, always was and will be.

We do our job, we are safety conscious, we know mostly what is expected of us to provide this service; promptness, run legally, safely and hopefully profitably. The question as it has always been. Profitable for whom?

What was once a great business to be in, one that people, most people, respected as a trustworthy profession and one which required integrity and professionalism is now depleted. I am not stating that there are not any good or great truckers out there anymore as I meet them everyday.  Are we clear on that?  We are still here. What's not here anymore is the opportunity. The chance to do what it is we do. We are not mindless, un-knowledgeable individuals who

Now that the trucking business is all but minimal as far as making a profit, I have found much more time to find out what is REALLY going on in America. It's not always what we listen to on the Radios in all our rigs, much of it is so sensored that the truth is all but covered up. These radio staions have sponsors who pay the bills. Well, wait a minute, they don't pay mine. I personally have never been a "Political" person to say. I have stayed beyond the lines and tried to do what was expected of me. I have ALWAYS "Payed it Forward". It was

Tennessee Ticket Quota Reported PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 07 June 2009 17:00

ll-header1

Although the Tennessee Highway Patrol denies it, a Nashville TV station is reporting that state troopers appear to have a quota system for issuing tickets.

News Channel 5 cites a memo that was posted at patrol headquarters, which warned troopers that the number of tickets they write will influence their evaluations and that “low activity is a killer.”

The memo said troopers who write 600 citations per year are assigned a grade of 3, while those writing 800 tickets are awarded a 5 when it comes to evaluations.

It also warns troopers that if they don’t write more than the average number of tickets, they won’t be able to work for overtime pay in one county.
